I am excited to announce that I am hosting two workshops with Pilchuck Glass School, at the campus in Stanwood, WA. 

Introduction to Natural Dyes

​I was first exposed to Pilchuck Glass School back in 2009 and 2010. For parts of each summer, I spent time as the printshop coordinator on campus. I met amazing artists, made lifelong friends, and mostly, was inspired daily by the amazing art and ideas produced, and dreamed up. This experience came at a time when I had just lost my job during the economic downturn of 2008/2009.

For me, art is the thing that I turn to when my career paths have seemed to dead-end, dry up, or not be what I thought them to be. While I have not pursued art professionally, it is the thing that nurtures and feeds me. Art is a place to process thoughts, a trusty and constant friend, a shoulder to lean on, a bright spot in an otherwise gray time. My time at Pilchuck was a turning point. I started dreaming, making art, and laying down the building blocks for the steps I wanted to take next in my life. 

Pilchuck is a special place to many. It is a magical place that allows people to dream, create big, be supported by community, and most of all be themselves. I am excited to return to the Stanwood campus for a couple of days this year to teach two natural dye workshops with their newish, craft workshop series. I hope you can join me. I can't think of a better way to spend a day.
